Daily Prayer

  • Galatians 3:24-26
So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.

At St John’s we have a tradition of support for Missions both at home and overseas.  Every year 12½% of our planned giving is shared between seven missions. These are The Corrymeela Community, The Church Army, USPG, Missions to Seafarers, The Church Mission Society, The Bible Society and The Leprosy Mission International.

On every Christ the King Sunday (23rd November this year) we have a display of missions materials and a retiring collection donated to a particular cause, (this year it will be St George’s Anglican Church in Baghdad).  We also have a Christmas collection, ad hoc retiring collections and fund raising events in aid of Helen and Douglas House and the Children’s Society and the surplus from the Sunday morning coffee money (Fair Trade) is donated to the Dayspring School in Jinga, Uganda.
