Crowthorne Foodbank – supermarket food collections
We are truly grateful to all the churches in Crowthorne who have ‘got on board’ with Wokingham Vineyard Church in helping with Crowthorne Foodbank either by donating food, money or by volunteering in the Foodbank itself on the days where we are open (Mondays & Thursdays 12noon-2pm). It has been a very humbling experience to see people’s response to this project and attached is information about what Foodbank does and how it operates together with a list of food which goes in the food parcels and data regarding how much food has been donated to date plus the number of people we have already been able to help feed.
Tesco’s (along with other supermarkets) are partnering with Foodbanks across the country by allowing food collections at their major supermarkets a couple of times a year, which is absolutely amazing! Crowthorne Foodbank have signed up to collect at both the Tesco Sandhurst and Wokingham stores on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 July, and we would love it if Churches Together in Crowthorne were able to provide volunteer support as well. If there is anyone in your church who would like to help for an hour or maybe two we would be extremely grateful. A full briefing will be given on how we go about asking customers to buy an item from the shopping list and then donate it on the way out of the supermarket. Ideally we need at least four volunteers on duty at any given time – so the more people who are able to volunteer, the better.
If anyone is able to help at all please would they contact Rosemary, Crowthorne Foodbank Manager, either by email
