So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.

St John's Fabric Committee

Current members:

Chair – Mike Thackray

Secretary – David Chater-Lea

Laszlo Gyenes, Nick Clapham, Lewis Simmonds, Brian Hooper and Martin Whitsed

We’ve been extremely busy keeping tabs on the main roofing project lately but have almost settled into a pattern of taking on separate areas to assist in keeping the building well maintained.

Lewis is our resident electrical, plumbing and gadget making supremo.

Brian Hooper has a background in Engineering and seems to have enjoyed keeping an eye on the drainage of the building.

Laszlo and I have taken a Project management role over many fabric issues, with Laszlo keeping an eye on the project costs and fulfilling his Church warden duties with regards to reporting to the Archdeacon.

It’s been great to have Nick and Martin join the team recently, each bringing with them, much needed insight and help with many of the minor works we’ve needed to carry out over the year.

Annual projects include:

Church Hedge Cutting between Sept and the end of October each year.

Annual Spring Cleaning – middle of March each year (on hold until after the roofing works has completed)

Small works projects always needing extra help are being planned after the main roof work has finished like: loose bricks to footpath needing re-bedding, timber lid to boiler room needs replacing. Anyone wanting to join us for our monthly Building Committee or help us on a Saturday morning on one of these projects is very welcome. Many thanks to Vanessa Burrell for taking on the task of organising the Church cleaning rota. Could you spare a few hours a year to help make our church gleam? Vanessa (01344 775644) would be glad to hear from you.
