The role of Church Warden is legally and practically vital in the life of the church. Ultimately it is the Church Wardens who are responsible to the Bishop for the conduct of services, the church finances, buildings and the provision of occasional services such as weddings and funerals. In practice this responsibility is shared with the vicar who remains responsible for the vision and direction of the church and its spiritual health and mission. This requires a close working relationship of mutual trust and respect. The Church Wardens are Karl Simpson and Anne Mohan.
Details of how to contact the Churchwardens may be found on the "How to contact us" page on this site. |

Current members:
Chair – Mike Thackray Secretary – David Chater-Lea Laszlo Gyenes, Lewis Simmonds, Brian Hooper
We’ve been extremely busy keeping tabs on the main roofing project lately but have almost settled into a pattern of taking on separate areas to assist in keeping the building well maintained.
Lewis is our resident electrical, plumbing and gadget making supremo.
Brian Hooper has a background in Engineering and seems to have enjoyed keeping an eye on the drainage of the building.
Laszlo and I have taken a Project management role over many fabric issues, with Laszlo keeping an eye on the project costs and fulfilling his Church warden duties with regards to reporting to the Archdeacon.
Annual projects include:
Church Hedge Cutting between Sept and the end of October each year.
Annual Spring Cleaning – middle of March each year (on hold until after the roofing works has completed)
Small works projects always needing extra help are being planned after the main roof work has finished like: loose bricks to footpath needing re-bedding, timber lid to boiler room needs replacing. Anyone wanting to join us for our monthly Building Committee or help us on a Saturday morning on one of these projects is very welcome. Please get in touch with Mike and let him know via
