Throughout the past year, we have been praying and working together to discern God's Vision for us at St John's. The PCC met for a day to distill all the information we had gathered. Then a small group refined the ideas into the following. This was unanimously supported by the PCC and will be presented at the Annual Parachial Church Meeting.
We are grounded in the faith and traditions of the past but also open to God’s glorious future:
· Centred on Christ: worship of God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, energises and sustains all that we are and do.
· As the Church, the body of Christ: we aim to be a community caring for all, bearing one another’s burdens in love, building fellowship through friendliness and fun. We encourage and nurture Christian discipleship and maturity. All are called to share the work of God’s mission and ministry and collaborate together to foster growth.
· At the heart of our local Community: offering the warmth and hospitality of God. We seek to be accessible and inclusive, sharing the Christian hope and being generous with our resources. We partner with other organisations in order to meet the needs of our community through loving service.
· Concerned for the whole of Creation: passionate about global justice, peace and the sustainability of our planet.

The Parish Vision and the Development of the Church |
As part of the development of the Parish Vision the PCC has considered options for development of the Church Building. There has already been considerable progress on developing firm plans for replacing the roof on the main Church. An architect/project manager has been appointed, firm tenders have been obtained and this is costed at £155,000. This cost is well in excess of the funds currently available (there is about a £50,000 shortfall) and would only be possible after major fund raising. The extent of funding raised wider strategic questions about the overall development of the Church Building as the accommodation for our Parish Vision. Therefore it was decided to undertake a preliminary investigation into the feasibility of providing significant additional space to the Church Hall by adding an upper level. This option was further described at the Annual Parishioner’s meeting and a consultation with Parish was initiated.
