St John the Baptist Parish Church
Flower Festival 14th-16th July
The Flower Festivalis a popular community event in the Crowthorne Carnival calendar.
In 2016 over 30 local organisations, schools and churches took part. Over 2,000 visitors enjoyed the spectacular floral displays and over £3,000 was raised for Alexander Devine Hospice, our chosen charity. In addition to this about £1,000 was raised from the sale of refreshments and this was donated to St John’s Church renovation fund.
This year the Flower Festival will be held as usual at St John’s Church on Saturday 14th July until Monday 16th July. The theme is ‘Horrible History’and our adopted charity will be ‘DEBRA’, the national charity that supports individuals and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) – a painful genetic skin blistering condition which, in the worst cases, can be fatal. Those born with EB have skin so fragile they are called 'butterfly children' – their skin is quite simply as fragile as the wing of a butterfly.
During the festival we will be enjoying musical entertainment from various local groups. Refreshments and light lunches will be available throughout the festival and profits from this will go to the Church Repair and Renovation Fund. There will be a display of patchwork and quilting items from ‘Crowthorne Crafts’ and hopefully demonstrations from other local craft groups.
Please look out for further details nearer the time and we look forward to seeing you there.
